At the Beacon Guest House you can start the day with a lovely home cooked breakfast, which is served in the light and airy conservatory, boasting spectacular views of the garden and village. The Beacon Guest House is the ideal base for exploring the surrounding area, such as the stunning coastal resorts of Whitby, Scarborough and Filey. There are many beautiful villages along the Yorkshire Coast that would make a lovely day out.
Goathland is well appointed to enjoy walks around the village and beyond, to suit walkers of all abilities. At the far end of the village sits the train station, also recognisable as Hogsmeade Station in Harry Potter. Visitors can enjoy a ride on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, the steam train leaves Pickering and stops at several stations along its route to Whitby.
The Beacon Guest House is a grand early Edwardian building - built over one hundred years ago as the country home of a wealthy mill owner - with oak-panelled rooms of generous proportions, period fittings, superb views, a large garden and high levels of customer service.
The six guest bedrooms all have en-suite facilities and are finished to a high standard. All rooms provide a colour TV and hospitality tray. Two of the rooms at the Beacon Guest House are situated in a converted barn, one of which has disabled access.
The village of Goathland, in the outstanding North York Moors National Park, is perhaps better known as Aidensfield, the setting for the long-running ITV television series, Heartbeat. The Beacon Guest House is perfectly situated at one end of the village, near to the beautiful Victorian Parish Church.
It's not surprising that the Beacon Guest House has featured in a number of episodes of Heartbeat - the guest lounge had a starring role as both a doctor's surgery and a solicitor's office, and some of the bedrooms and public areas have also been filmed for the show.
